In January of 2017 Tara joined Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLP to lead its new Halifax office, making Mathews Dinsdale the first coast-to-coast labour and employment law firm in Canada. Tara specializes in labour and employment and human rights law on behalf of employers. She has acted on behalf of universities in Nova Scotia for over 20 years including in grievance arbitration, wrongful dismissal, applications for certification, and human rights boards of inquiries. Tara holds a B.A. from the University of King’s College, a LL.B. from Dalhousie Law School, and a LL.M (Labour Relations and Employment Law) from Osgoode Hall Law School. Tara is a member of the bars of Nova Scotia (1996), Ontario (1998) and Alberta (2003) and is a Certified Professional in Human Resources. Active in a number of associations, Tara is a past Chair of the National Labour and Employment Section of the Canada Bar Association. In October 2015 Tara was awarded the Heenan Ross Award for her work as the founding director of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers, which now has over 800 members. In 2016 she was named Queen’s Counsel.
